Joshua Legister Poems

What took you all night
Took me all day.
What you found heavy
I found light.
...

Let them think you're not worth it.
Let them think you're not enough.
But know this:
Mediocrity isn't for me.
...

We cradle dreams, we build, we break, we heal,
In labor, love, and loss, calloused hands reveal.
Life lines drawn in the palm of my hand,
Scars from touches too plain to understand.
...

Some speak to be heard,
others to be understood.
Some raise the volume,
others raise the truth.
...

We craft our worlds from fragile sound,
Each syllable a seed we've found.
A word can wound, a word can mend,
It starts a war, or makes amends.
...

In a world that asks us to suffer in silence,
To face the chaos as though alone,
Some friends listen without judgment,
Who keep us grounded, and lead us home.
...

What is the purpose of it all?
If oceans drift, then fade away.
Though every night and day we call
Our spirits stray, our colours grey.
...

Through Different Eyes

What took you all night
Took me all day.
What you found heavy
I found light.
What made you think Evil
Made me think of only good.
What made you choose violence
I chose peace.
For the world you see
Is shaped by the lens you choose.
