A great novelist and a fantastic poet. Tolkien never expected his stories to become popular, but by sheer accident a book called The Hobbit, which he had written some years before for his own children, came in 1936 to the attention of Susan Dagnall.

Pity, how the world is barred from the main body of his poetical works. Perhaps the executors of his estate would finally step into the 21st century.

It's a pity there isn't a proper full anthology of Tolkien's poems as they are essential reading for all fans. I've managed to compile my own by trawling the internet and downloading them to docs on my tablet.

J.R.R. Tolkien was, in my opinion, one of if not the most creative and inspirational writers and poets of all time. His work will never fail to sweep me off into another world. May he rest in peace.

Tolkein is the ultimate driving force of the universe! Not only as a poet, but as a writer. No one shall ever rival him for awsomeness. The only other thing I want to say is that this site has only a very small sample of his poems, and there should be much more.
