today, i worked in the garden
with marigolds and daffodils.
i pulled the weeds and filled
the space between

...

        barefoot on a summer night
we ran until the bottom of our
feet bled and all the other
cool kids

...

        if poetry were a lady
i'd be able to see right
through her. you know?
'cause a person's eyes

Today, I Worked In The Garden

today, i worked in the garden
with marigolds and daffodils.
i pulled the weeds and filled
the space between
my skin
and nails
with soil. peace reigned
over me with every tug from
the base. thinking to myself
these would make a home
out of my vacant vase.
thorns pricked away
at the
surface of my thumb and
made a good laugh for
Tyson; whose nose would
always run.
today, i worked in the garden.
