Heini Djurhuus Poems

We are men of logic, but our logic is flawed
We are hard as ice, but we thaw
No brains and even less brawn
Toil all day to the coming of dawn
...

A somber stream, jet black as the Styx
Incandescent obscurity, crepuscule shade
Mournful magma, forge my crucifix
Dawn of delirium, abhorrence and hate
...

Coil for me, snake demon
Shed your skin, so that I may follow
Guide me to the sermon
Desecration of the marrow
...

Embodiment of negativity

Re-birth of the soil born
Eyes clouded by shamanistic scorn
...

Skál! (A Toast!)

We are men of logic, but our logic is flawed
We are hard as ice, but we thaw
No brains and even less brawn
Toil all day to the coming of dawn
In the gray mountains, where the north wind blows
In the cold fjords, where our spirits burn low
Our minds are dull and our wits are dim
But take heart men! We have tonic and gin!

Skál! For liberty, dear brothers and friends!
Skál! For our sisters and all our fellowmen!
Skál! For kinsfolk and for all enemies!
Skál! For she, for he and thee!
Skál! For the death of hatred and spite!
Skál! For the death of winter and night
Fear not tomorrow nor the morning after!
All of our sorrows are slayed, by the sword of love and laughter!
