GAMSON JR MAWALLIL QUIJANO is a registered Radiologic Technologist who works in Doha, Qatar.
He is a contributor in Mindanawon Abroad of MindaNews through a column " Tausug In Doha."
He has published essays, poems, photo stories, and tarasul (Tausug form of poetry) in MindaNews, Mindanao Examiner, The Zamboanga Post, Philippine Muslim Today, The Ranao Star, Mindanao Times, Edge Davao, Mindanao Today, and MindanaoPost.
Three of his poems entitled " Magma" , Twilight" and " Northern Lights" have been published in Poetry 365 by RDW World Publisher.
His two poems entitled " Lupa' Sug, Hula' Kalasahan" and " Ina'" were included in the third volume of the Bangsamoro Literary Review (BLR) .
Likewise, his literary piece entitled " The Storm and the Old Mango Tree" was the first entry for IQRA: Stories of the Bangsamoro on November 2022 | Volume 1, No.6 edition of MERDEKA: The Official Publication of the Bangsamoro Information Office of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.
His Tarasul entitled " Ubat Haram Mayta' Subay Natu' Tuud Pu'puun Tinggalan" won a Grand Champion during the 1st Literary Arts Tarasul Online Contest of the Municipality of Talipao, Sulu on the occasion of 2021 Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Week.
Most of his poems written in Bahasa Sug were translated into English by Warina Sushil A. Jukuy, her writing mentor.
He belongs to the Tulawie Clan of Sulu. He is one of the great-grandchildren of Mohammad Tulawie, one of the greatest Tausug Muslim pioneer educators who made the Tausugs realized the value of education during his time.
