Franklin Pierce Adams Comments

Stan Armes 20 May 2020

I have before me two acrostic poems that I have not found any other place. both of them are acrostics to his name Franklin Pierce. The first one is Acrostic sonnet and begins, " Firm and unshaken as Gibraltar's rock Round whose broad base the ranging seas contend... the second one begins " False hast thou been to they county's high trust, Raised, (sp?) thou hast laid her fond hope in the dust...."

Where have you found Acrostic Sonnet attributed to FPA? I have found this same piece attributed only as 'L' in the Mar 1856 issue of The National Democratic Review.
