Fahmida Riaz Comments

I did not know this page existed until today. Few days ago, upon hearing of Fehmida Riaz's sad passing away, I translated one of her poems and posted it on Poem Hunter in her memory and as a small tribute to her. It was extremely difficult to capture the rhythm, rhyme, multi-faceted meanings, subtle images and overall atmosphere of the poem. After that humbling experience, I very much appreciate the excellent translation by Patricia Sharpe of several of her poems.
