I received a B.A. in English Literature from UCLA, and subsequently an MFA in Creative Writing from Antioch University. I currently live in Japan, where I work as a lecturer in the English language and English literature. Aside from my own writing, I have published translations of poetry and prose from the German and Russian. One ongoing project that I am working on is translating the work of the (undeservedly) obscure German Expressionist poet Paul Boldt. The English renderings I have done so far can be found at the following trilingual website: http: //www.paul-boldt.de/en/index.html
In early 2013, I finished translating a non-fiction book from the German that was a bestseller in Germany and was made into a movie for German TV in 2006. The author and I are now looking for a publisher for this translation in the Anglophone world.

Each one above a tomb.
And we must read the floor
...
(From the German of Friedrich Hölderlin)
When I was still a boy
A god often saved me
