Great night out but home late too
No key so unsure what to do
Parents will kill me
If I ring the bell

I don't know Trump, he doesn't know me,
But the rhetoric he used scared me.
I appreciate he's different, a change can be good,
I just wish I knew his intentions if only I could;

She arrives at dawn summoning the bird's awakening
Flying as her light illuminates
Twinkles through the dawn and paints the sky with pink fingers
Warms the earth and brings a new day

You will be told stories galore
With details that deepen and predict the score

Without Detection

Great night out but home late too
No key so unsure what to do
Parents will kill me
If I ring the bell
Sister could open her window as well

Pacing around the garden in the dark
I just want to sleep but I have to decide
Pay the forfeit or suffer the hide

Deciding is easy I'm too tired to care
Ringing the bell will result in hell
I pick up a stone and hurl it high
I hear a thud and try again
It takes a while til I hear a click

Eventually the curtain is pulled back
A face looks out in the evening light
I hope she can see me in the gloom
I see a wave and feel relief

The front door opens squeeking slightly
Run in quick and up to my bed
I hear my dad's voice
And jump under the covers
I pretend to sleep and breathe gently
Another nocturnal escapade without detection.
