Christian Gehman Biography

Priizewinning novelist and chef... novelismo.blogspot.com, hudsonvalleyeats.blogspot.com - I love Rebecca West, Ford Madox Ford, Sybille Bedford, Marguerite Duras, B. Traven... and Anthony Trollope. I attended the Iowa Writers Workshop; I have a Master's Degree but no BA... yet. Fame didn't tickle me. I started as a sports reporter on the Kingston Daily Freeman after leaving Hamilton. My food column Christian's Cookery appeared in eight daily papers including the Omaha World Herald and The Charlottesville Daily Progress before the food boom hit. After growing up in the real Woodstock (60 miles from Bethel) , and in New York City, where my great grandmother read me Uncle Remus on her knee, I ran a farm near Charlottesville, then owned a frantically successful restaurant there. Ezra Pound has always been my favorite poet. I love scribbling, cooking and vineyard Morgon, not necessarily in that order. I believe B. Traven really WAS Jack London. My favorite films are Les Vacances de M. Hulot. and Les Regles du Jeu. I can tickle your ear with lilting tunes, ask you a riddle while you smoke and levitate the juice of limes. Do you know me?
