Adieu

The years that have passed, at a cyclone's pace
A messy-go-round, a tumultuous space.
Doors opened and closed, a dance without end
But the last one cut deep, the most brutal, my friend.
Decisions unheeded, disaster lurking in their wake,
Comfort sought but denied, heart left to ache.
Feelings brought forward, only to be tip-toed around,
Avoiding the truth that wishes to be found.

Just one self-proclaimed question remains,
'Why? ' heard loudly, amidst silent refrains.
It's solely for me, not for you to bear,
As time and again, you've shown me that you genuinely care.
Though is it merely convenience, just pastime's play,
Easily available until better finds its way?
Maybe something more sinister, veracity held at bay,
Revealed in the end as a cruel display.

Ah! A complex dance that isn't quite ready to start,
Yearning for something, someone...that's close to my heart.
But no...it can't be, for everything's laid out,
Mapped with precision, no room for doubt.
So is it me, I wonder, whose plagued by a curse...
Joking about love, a boundless one so diverse?
Crying for hope, a small flicker or flame,
Angry at longing for what's unreachable, untamed.

The plethora of emotions, quite burdensome to bear,
Desiring for them to fade, dissipate into thin air.
As tears stain my face, as do the words on this page,
Alas, I bid farewell, finally reaching this stage.
This, my forbidden love, is ultimately the end
With this chapter closed, new beginnings may blend.
As solitary finds me, my heart starts to mend,
I hope this love- pure and true- will find you again...
