Hello. I live in Middlesbrough in the UK, aged 39, and I am just starting out as a children's (ages 7-10) poetry author. I used to write poems in my teens and early 20s to cope with a difficult time in my life, but having come through the other side of that, I now want to focus my efforts into children's literature that a family might enjoy together.
Dragons don't eat without pause:
They peel their knights with their claws,
It's a bit of a fiddle,
But they suck out the middle,

In a secluded meadow of trees,
In a hive of a quite special kind,
Lives a curious family of bees,
That only the fortunate find.
...
Ludo is a whippet dog, the perfect family pet,
And when he was a puppy, he was sweet as you can get.
Now he is a charming soul, a gentle, calm old man,
Puppy was so playful, and exploring was his plan.
...
The wise old rabbit looks into the wind,
and over his ears it blows,
His eyes half shut, his whiskers flat,
as into his mind he goes.
...
Humans see rats in two ways, in darkness or in light,
The sweetest people of them all, or creatures of the night.
The rats thought it was time at last, for choices to be made,
'Let's call a moot! ' their leader said, to end this false charade.
